C A Blackwell has purchased its first Bell wheeled loader to fulfil an earthmoving contract for Aggregate Industries.
Blackwell are working for the Homes and Communities Agency on the repair of a sheet-piled river wall on the River Thames, next to the O2 Arena, in the shadow of Canary Wharf. Construction commenced in early February 2012 and is on schedule to better the mid-March completion date.
With the provision of safety exclusion zones adjacent to the wall and specific environmental procedures due to the nature of the site, Blackwell have to date carried out the successful sequential insertion of new tie-rods and tensioning to the anchor beam.
Blackwell is part of the East Kent Engineering Partnership Framework and has been contracted by Shepway District Council for its three year beach renourishment programme between Hythe and Folkestone. This week has seen the start of Blackwell's third Campaign on the beach. The five week campaign sees Blackwell's 40t dump trucks hauling around 40,000m3 over three kilometres along the beach. The dump trucks are equipped with innovative telematic weigh loaders which are used to monitor the performance of the operation in real time from both the offices of the Council and Blackwell Head Office in Essex.
Just like the real TV programme, Year 4 at Brook Primary School in Stourbridge, West Midlands have been competing for top places in the school's version of Dragons' Den and, just like the real thing, pupils had to convice a panel of judges that their invention was the winner!
In conjunction with the Dudley Education Business Partnership, Blackwell was asked to be one of the Dragons.
Blackwell secure the Balance of Plant Contract for the Carraig Gheal wind farm in Argyllshire for Greenpower Ltd. Project includes design and build of a 20 turbine wind farm and 36km new forest access road and is due for completion in December 2012.
Blackwell take delivery of a new 70tonne Volvo EC700C excavator to initially be deployed to our Carraig Gheal wind farm scheme.
