Company personnel working on our Ardoch and Over Enoch Wind Farm site near Eaglesham are three weeks ahead of programme on the construction of the control building, following the completion of the roofing works last week and with the door fittings scheduled for next week.

Wolf Minerals Limited has awarded an £85 million Mining Services Contract for the Hemerdon tungsten and tin project to CA Blackwell (Contracts) Limited.
Formal commencement date for the project work under the Contract is currently expected to be in March 2014, dependent upon the progress of the project schedule.
Wolf tendered the Contract within the UK and internationally. The Company received eleven quality bids. The tenders were evaluated on the basis of quality and price. Wolf selected Blackwell for the Contract on this basis.
Blackwell secured the infrastructure and hard landscaping packages on the redevelopment of the former Cattle Market in the centre of Hereford. We have completed the preparatory works to the first major retail blocks of the project (blocks A & B) allowing structural steel frames and facing brickwork to commence. We are currently progressing with the final block and external works to be completed February 2014.
Phase 1,2 and 4 completed with phase 3 commencing July 2013 which involves the construction of complex traffic signal controls and crossings. We are working with Solihull MBC regarding scoping and buildability on further extensions of the scheme.
We are very pleased to announce that the Middle Ouse Restoration of Physical Habitats (MORPH) project was highly commended, under the Sustainability and Environmental Improvement category of the excellence awards within the South Branch of ICE South East.
Following the successful completion of our Hanningfield Reservoir Reed Bed Project in September last year, the site was recently visited by Natural Environment Minister Richard Benyon MP, and Chief Executive of Northumbrian Water Heidi Mottram. Richard Benyon stated “I was impressed as soon as I saw this site”, the 16 beds complete with 176,000 plants are currently going through full trials and the growing stage, with the 4.5ha site set to be fully functional by Summer 2014.
C A Blackwell, along with Royal Haskoning DHV Ltd, Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, and the Environment Agency have been successful in being shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence Award in Sustainability (South East), and the ICE Engineering Excellence Award (South Branch) for the project Middle Ouse Restoration of Physical Habitats (MORPH).

Blackwell have been awarded the Balance of Plant contract for the Burton Pidsea wind farm in East Yorkshire.
With around 90 wind farms currently under construction in the UK, developers are taking full advantage of the UK’s enviable claim to fame as the windiest region in Europe. But although wind is free, much capital investment is needed at the outset. This, combined with often isolated locations, harsh terrain and other environmental constraints, can lead to quite challenging construction schedules.
At Carraig Gheal Wind Farm in Scotland, contracting specialist Blackwell has nevertheless shown how careful planning and technical ingenuity can more than cope with these demands.
As part of our ongoing commitment to conserve natural resources through the production of renewable energy, C A Blackwell have commissioned and installed 144 state of the art PV solar panels on the roof of our Head Office building in Earls Colne, Essex. This initiative, completed in June, will result in the annual offset of approximately 17 tonnes of CO2.
