Blackwell awarded North Yorkshire A1 Earthworks Sub-Contract

Blackwell have made a start to the earthmoving for Phase One of the A1 Dishforth to Barton highways upgrade for the Carillion Morgan Est JV.  The project involves the earthworks for 22km of new dual three lane motorway alongside the exisiting A1 calling for the movement and handling of 1.5M cu m of material. 

 

The scheme extends from Dishforth to Leeming and should see substantial completion of the earthworks by the end of 2010.  Blackwell have deployed a fleet of forty machines which should rise to a peak of sixty over the coming weeks.  As part of the sub-contract, Blackwell are undertaking the setting out for the earthworks using a combination of traditional and GPS techniques.
