Blackwell steams ahead on McLaren Production Centre
Blackwell, following on from an inital enabling package have been awarded the bulk earthworks for the new McLaren Production Centre, in Woking, Surrey. The facility will manufacture the first in its range of premium high-performance sports cars.
The scope of the Blackwell's works includes excavation of 180,000m3 of soil and re-profiling of the site to create the construction platform, re-using all material within the finished landscaping and blinding of 30,000sq m of building formation. The excavation was undertaken to an extremely demanding programme of five weeks with phase handovers to the piling contractor. We will return to site later this year to undertake the backfill works.
