Blackwell has owned and operated earthmoving plant for more than 50 years. The current fleet holding of around 300 major items is of mixed source and manufacture from across the globe.

The plant has been used in the excavation and handling of virtually every type of earthworks material, from rock to peat, acid to alkaline, burning shale to frozen ground and in all manner of aggressive environments.

The need for thorough routine maintenance and prudent timing of the replacement of wear parts is therefore fully understood by the Blackwell Engineering Division. Rigid procedures have been developed to ensure downtime is minimised by managed preventative maintenance.

The limited availability of spares and replacement parts for all but the newest plant items has prompted the investment by the Engineering Division into specialist equipment and training into the application of new welding technologies which enable worn or damaged parts to be regenerated to high standards.
